The discharge nurse tried to convince us that post-surgery was the time to break Ben from his pacifier habit. We smiled and listened to her whole list of reasons it was necessary. We knew all these things, but there was no way we were taking his coping mechanism away during a two week recovery period. But on our first day of vacation at Grandma's, Ben said goodbye to his pacifiers - all 7 of them. He kissed each of them and was done. We must thank our friends Dalyn and Kay for the idea of a Paci Fairy. You send the pacifiers away to the Paci Fairy who will then give them to a newborn baby who needs them. In return the Paci Fairy leaves a nice toy to say thank you. Considering that for the past 6 months, Ben almost always had his paci with him, I anticipated a rough transition period. Ben surprised all of us. He has done really well.
