Becoming a Grandparent

Due to Ben's allergies and asthma, stuffed animals in our house have to be small enough to fit in the freezer to have a weekly treatment of freezing off the dustmites. Last year Eliot began developing a sweet relationship with his stuffed animals - he is their boy mommy. Ben has picked up the language and he is also the boy mommy for his babies. Three funny things that have developed recently: 1. Ben particularly will have his baby do something he knows he is not supposed to do. When he is scolded, Ben replies "but it was my baby that hit Eliot, not me. Put the baby in time out." So there is now a strong family rule that if your baby breaks a rule, YOU will get in trouble. Ben does not appreciate this. 2. Eliot and Ben love birthday celebrations. Eliot (and now Ben has followed suit) puts on a party about once a week for one of his babies. He wraps up a toy we already own and has the baby open it. The baby expressed surprise and joy at their present. This photo is Baby Brown Bear's party. 3. Eliot has decided that if he is his baby's boy mommy, then I am their Grandma. Now at bedtime I have to give each of my grandchildren a kiss. It can be a long process. I now have 17 grandchildren.
