Ben's Diet

We discovered through a lot of trial and error that there are foods that trigger Ben's eczema. He is not allergic to dairy, but his eczema almost instantly reacts. He drinks a combo of rice and coconut milk now. There are a few more things we have tried to cut from his diet. But on top of this, he has an official allergy to eggs and peanuts. We have the joy of carrying around an epi-pen now with us everywhere we go. I love peanuts. I love peanut butter. And I would dare to say that Jared and Eliot love peanut butter even more. So we are now to figure out how to balance this with eliminating peanuts & all tree nuts from our home. Sunflower seed butter. It is not fabulous, but it isn't horrible. A good discovery. We love eggs too. And they are in everything baked and processed. Our hope is, if we can keep Ben from being exposed to egg, it is quite likely he will grow out of this allergy by age 5. But we have to limit exposure. Kids can grow out of the peanut allergy, but it isn't as frequent as egg. Keep your fingers crossed that we can do it.

Comments:
My niece grew out of a peanut allergy. Good luck with that!

So I guess almond butter is out? That's what my nephew eats.
